  1. We are a local history group in Kirkburton researching the local history of Kirkburton and Highburton.

We meet every Friday in Kirkburton Library from 10am till 12 noon - we are an open group, and welcome anyone who wishes to join.

In 2019 the group worked with our local churches in Kirkburton and Shelley to produce an on-line map of the burial grounds within All Hallows and Emmanuel churches. This gives computer access to burial records, grave locations and photographs of head stones and burial plots.

For 2020 we have received a very generous award from Kirklees Council to purchase recording equipment. We are planning an extensive programme of oral history recordings within our local area

The categories are tiered with the broadest first. Click on the plus sign till you find the specific categories that best suit your group.
