  1. The Care Quality Commission is the health and social care regulator for England. We make sure health and social care services, including care homes and hospitals, provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve.

We monitor, inspect and regulate services. Then we publish what we find, including performance ratings, to help people choose care. Where we find poor care, we will use our powers to take action.

Please see our website for more details of what we do and to access reports on all aspects of care including care homes, hospitals, doctors and dentists, and services in your home and the community.
