  1. WomenCentre Kirklees provides holistic, one-stop services at our centres in Huddersfield and Dewsbury and in the community.

    Our wide-ranging services include emotional and practical support on issues such as mental or physical health, asylum and immigration, domestic violence, counselling, training and development and much more.
    WomenCentre enables women to:
    • improve health and well-being
    • increase training and employment opportunities for improved economic conditions
    • raise self-confidence, self-esteem and social interaction skills
    • improve citizenship and social inclusion
    • support the development of positive, safe and stable circumstances and relationships
    • improve safety and wellbeing of their children

    In Kirklees, we have a specialist Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. Our approach to women’s mental health and wellbeing is to look at the whole woman.

    We recognise the effects that abuse, discrimination, physical and mental ill-health, financial pressure, unemployment, relationship conflicts and other issues have on our overall wellbeing. The service works in both North and South Kirklees and offers: drop-in, counselling, one-to-one support, group work, self help groups, creative approaches, confidence building, eating disorder groups, pregnancy testing, links to community groups, community building, anger management, walking groups, information knowledge and other opportunities.

    WomenCentre is also part of Connecting Opportunities, which works with new migrants to develop their skills and opportunities to find work and be part of the local community. Connecting Opportunities is funded by the Big Lottery and the European Social Fund as part of the Building Better Opportunities programme. “WomenCentre’s specific role within the Connecting Opportunities Project is to provide women-centred training, advice and evaluation with the aim of embedding women-centred ways of working with women migrants across the Project.” To make a referral to the project Please call: 0113 378 8700 or fill an online form: http://www.migrationyorkshire.org.uk/referral.
