History

  1. Mirfield Tennis Club has existed since at least the 1880's, when it boasted a splendid wooden pavilion and grass courts - which by the 1950's had evolved into a brick built pavilion with shale courts. Since going into decline in the late 1990's - and almost folding in 2005 - the club has made a huge resurgence, partly due to its partnership with Kirklees Council, but mostly as a result of the commitment of a small number of enthusiastic members.

There are now six all-weather tennis courts, two of which are floodlit, a kids mini astroturf court and a modest, manageable clubhouse. The club enters Men's, Ladies and Mixed teams in regional Calderdale, Huddersfield and Wakefield Leagues, in addition to staging its own tournaments.
