Indian Muslim Welfare Society (IMWS)


  1. Al-Hikmah Centre is at the hub of the community in North Kirklees. Al-Hikmah is a large community enterprise centre which is extensively used by the local community. It has large conference facilities for hire with laptop, overhead projector, flip chart and PA system on offer. It now also offers free Wi-Fi in most areas.

    There is a range of training provisions on site and the centre offers sporting and recreational activities.

    The centre is open 7 days a week, however office hours are from Monday to Friday 9am till 5pm.

  1. Indian Muslim Welfare Society (IMWS) is a time-honoured voluntary community organisation with charitable status, which was established in 1957.

    It is a member of the Interfaith Council (GB) It is an umbrella organisation which has close connections to the network of local mosques and represents the community on all aspects of socio-economic and political issues.

    However, all services are targeted to the wider community and IMWS has had a long track record in working with a wide range of organisations, public, private and voluntary. It has been engaged in delivering a range of projects targeting all age ranges and across the spectrum of community need.

    The local Council recognises IMWS is considered to be a key agency for the local community.
