  1. First established in 1957, the Indian Muslim Welfare Society (IMWS) has been instrumental in the ongoing development of the quality of the lives of individuals and that of the community as a whole through the following aims:
    Promotion of a Positive Image of Muslims in British Society today
    Encouragement of Social Enterprise
    Addressing Social and Racial deprivation
    Addressing the needs of its Youth, Elders and Women

    IMWS supports the delivery of education, jobs and training opportunities by working in collaboration with its mainstream providers (LEA, NHS, PCT, Police Authority, and others).

    We run various classes, various adult courses including ESOL (English) and Computer classes, social group for older ladies, luncheon clubs for over 55's, youth groups for boys and girls and courses throughout the year.

    We also offer a venue hire service for conferences, meetings, weddings and sports hall bookings.

History

  1. Indian Muslim Welfare Society (IMWS) is a time-honoured voluntary community organisation with charitable status, which was established in 1957.
    It is a member of the Interfaith Council (GB) It is an umbrella organisation which has close connections to the network of local mosques and represents the community on all aspects of socio-economic and political issues.
    However, all services are targeted to the wider community and IMWS has had a long track record in working with a wide range of organisations, public, private and voluntary. It has been engaged in delivering a range of projects targeting all age ranges and across the spectrum of community need.
    The local Council recognises IMWS is considered to be a key agency for the local community.
