The Huddersfield and District U3A was established in 1985 by a group of people sharing similar aims of maintaining and improving the quality of life for older people by keeping active and fulfilled both mentally and physically. It is a registered charity receiving no grants from the local authority.
In June 2005 it won the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service and as an organisation it continues to thrive and grow today.
