The Sewing Studio:
Join our hands on course and take your sewing from basic to brilliant. Whether you’re a total beginner or want to refresh your skills.
• Master essential sewing skills – from threading a machine to professional seams, hems, and fastenings.
• Create real projects – make your own tote bags, elasticated trousers, and personalized mini-projects.
• Get creative – experiment with textures, 3D textiles, surface manipulation, and embellishments.
• Learn at your pace – drop in for sessions that interest you or commit to the full sessions, week by week.
• Build confidence and skills – measure, cut, sew, and finish your own garments with pride.
Thursday 30th April 10:30-1:30
Introduction to sewing: Sewing machine safety, threading a sewing machine, sewing basic seams and lines of paper/fabric practice.
Seams 1: 1cm open, 1cm closed, top stitched, twin stitched, 3-thread Overlocker seam finish.
Thursday 7th May 10:30-1:30
Seams & Stretch: A session on more complex seams and use of stretch fabrics.
Seams: French seam and bias binding (single & double). Overlocker threading & 4-thread seam for stretch fabric.
