The Leeds Waits at Oakwell Hall: Feisty Females

Step back in time well before the era of women’s lib and bra-burning, as The Leeds Waits celebrate the bold, brilliant, and downright extraordinary women of history. Through lively storytelling, words, and ballads, you'll meet figures like Mother Shipton and Jenny the Boggle—women who beat the odds, fought back, and even found fame.

Expect:
A fun, painless (mostly accurate!) history lesson
No scandal left unturned
Authentic period music woven into every tale
Plenty of audience participation

The Leeds Waits are a re-creation of the official musicians of the Borough of Leeds, offering unique concerts that shine a light on the lesser-known corners of English and Yorkshire history. Come along, be entertained, and discover the stories they didn’t teach you at school!
