Winter Solstice Walk

About the event

Join our Castle Hill Ranger for a refreshing winter walk beginning at sunrise to celebrate the Winter Solstice which marks the longest night and shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Free
The Winter Solstice is the ancient belief that the sun stood still for 12 days in the middle of winter to conquer the darkness and banish evil spirits and to welcome the rebirth of the sun and longer days and bring luck for the coming year. The walk will be 5 miles. Free
For all the walks you will need good footwear, warm clothing & waterproofs. There will be some slopes, rough terrain and a number of step-over stiles on all the walks. Meet on the top car park on Castle Hill. Sorry, no dogs except assistance dogs. All children must be accompanied. Booking is essential. Tel: 07870 570914
